Business and Childbirth in the Same Sentence

The powerful, fragile, and essential cycle of creation.

Business has always reminded me of childbirth. You see something come into the world that didn’t exist before, and you watch it grow, stumble, change, mature—or sometimes fade out sooner than you expected.

“Startups and businesses really are like children: they start off fragile, full of potential, and entirely dependent on the person who brought them to life.”

I’ve watched new ventures take their first steps with excitement while older ones quietly wrapped up their journeys. And strangely, both moments carry the same energy—one chapter closing so another can open. That cycle never stops.

We’re in a moment where building something new is more possible than ever. You don’t need permission; you need intention. Success isn’t inherited. It’s built with patience, late nights, small wins, and all the little decisions you make when no one’s watching.

And when a business ends—whether it’s yours or someone else’s—it isn’t really a failure. It’s space being cleared for the next idea, the next “child,” the next shot at creating something that matters.

What are you trying to bring into the world?
